Church of the Holy Sepulchre
A favorite destination among Christians and others, this 6th century church was built on the site of Jesus’ crucifixion and can be found near the Jaffa Gate. This church is a must-see stop on the Christian Pilgrimage. It is also part of the UNESCO World Heritage Site Old City of Jerusalem.
Western Wall
The Western Wall, also known as the Wailing Wall, stand at the foot of the site of the Jews’ Holy Temple. It is the last remaining wall of the outer part of the Temple. This site welcomes people of all religions. Be aware that there are separate sections for men and women, which promotes modesty.
Dome of the Rock
This Moslem mosque sits on top of the Temple Mount and is visible from many parts of Jerusalem. It is a holy site of the Moslems and is also used as a family gathering place on holidays.
Shuk
The Shuk is a marketplace in the Moslem Quarter that invites everyone who passes through to buy as much as they want. Don’t forget to haggle for the best price. You can also enjoy a lovely Middle Eastern meal at one of the cafes in the marketplace.
Burnt House
This house, excavated in 1967, displays life in Jerusalem during the Second Temple period. The house belonged to a wealthy family at around 70 CE. The findings included a weight inscribed with the family’s name, a spear, and the remains of a woman’s arm. Enjoy an audio-visual show of the excavation and the history of the site.
Tunnel Tours
Walk straight into history on this tour of the ground underneath the Temple Mount. You can enjoy a simulated tour of the Holy Temple and the homes surrounding it in the computer room. Walk through the newly excavated rooms with their ancient arches and get a feel of the way the city looked 3,000 years ago.
City of David
The City of David brings you back to time of King David as you splash in Hezkiah’s tunnel spring. Enjoy a 3D movie before embarking on the tour of a lifetime. You will also enjoy seeing elaborate homes from ancient times and the new findings in the recent archaeological digs.
Cardo
This 6th century main street in the Old City of Jerusalem is a must-see spot. You can walk through the covered section and enjoy the cool air 20 feet below street level. Walk over to the pillars in the open-air section and enjoy the history of the place.
